Last week, I asked my trainees to setup their own online websites on the Internet. I need them to get their hands dirty to the real jobs in the real world. Good news: They all did my assignment on time. Bad news: Some of them used free hosts.
The problem is, when you use somethings free, you will lost the chance to do it yourself. Free is equal to limitations. Limitations is the enemy of creativity. Personally, I don’t need my trainees to think out of the box, but I want them to know what they might have “inside the box”. Using a “free box”, they won’t know that.
Too bad, I can’t give them some real stuffs myself. I felt painful when asking them to pay for the domains and hosts themselves, without any support from the company. Therefore, I should be pleased with my trainees results. Of course, I do pleased because I know they were trying their best to do my assignments.
But since I failed to show my trainees the real tasks that they should know for making the Web, I think I have reason to feel bad. In this case, free is not good! Definitely!
